Jeep Wrangler vs Gladiator: Which Accessories Do You Actually Need?

More Alike Than Different — But the Details Matter

The Jeep Gladiator is built on the Wrangler JL platform, which means the two vehicles share a significant amount of DNA — the same front end, the same cab, and many of the same mounting points. For accessory shoppers, this is great news: a lot of what works on a Wrangler JL will work on a Gladiator.

But "a lot" isn't "everything." The Gladiator's longer wheelbase, truck bed, and updated roll bar configuration (especially on 2024+ models) mean some accessories are model-specific. Buying the wrong fitment is a frustrating and avoidable mistake.

Here's a practical breakdown of the key accessory categories and what fits what.

Door Lock Covers: Mostly Shared, With One Key Difference

Because the Gladiator uses the same JL door design, most JL door lock covers fit the Gladiator as well. Our Keyhole Lock Covers for Jeep® JL Wrangler & Gladiator are explicitly designed for both platforms — one product, two vehicles.

The exception is the tailgate. The Gladiator has a truck-style tailgate rather than the Wrangler's swing-out rear door, so tailgate lock cover fitment differs between the two. If your Gladiator has a tailgate lock, verify fitment before ordering.

What fits both JL Wrangler and Gladiator:

JL-specific (Wrangler only):

Grab Handles: Platform-Specific

This is where Wrangler and Gladiator owners need to pay close attention. The roll bar configuration on the 2024+ Gladiator differs from earlier models and from the Wrangler, which means grab handles are not universally interchangeable.

  • Jeep Gladiator 2024+: The GP-Grip AIR Grab Handle is purpose-built for the updated 2024+ roll bar. This is the correct choice for current Gladiator owners.
  • Jeep Wrangler 2007–2023 / older Gladiator: The GP Grip PRO Grab Handle fits the Wrangler JK, JL, and compatible Gladiator configurations. Available in 12 colors.

When in doubt, check your model year and roll bar configuration before ordering. Installing a handle designed for a different platform can result in a poor fit or unsafe mounting.

Cargo Covers: Different Vehicles, Different Needs

This is the biggest functional difference between the two platforms. The Wrangler has an enclosed cargo area behind the rear seats; the Gladiator has an open truck bed. This means cargo cover solutions are completely different between the two vehicles.

For Wrangler owners, cargo covers sit inside the enclosed cargo area and provide privacy and protection from the elements:

For Gladiator owners, bed covers and bed organizers are a separate product category designed for the truck bed format. The Wrangler cargo covers listed above are not compatible with the Gladiator's open bed.

JK Wrangler Owners: A Note on Generation Gaps

If you're on a JK (2007–2018), be aware that JL accessories generally won't fit your rig. The door design, keyhole dimensions, and mounting points differ between generations. Always filter by your specific model year when shopping.

Our Door Lock Covers for Jeep® Wrangler JK are designed specifically for the 2007–2018 platform.
